One little complaint, the beds in China are like sleeping on cement. Other than that, the food here is really good, the breakfast buffet has a great selection and Leilani is trying all kinds of different foods. So far, this is an American girl through and through, she likes french fries, burger, scrambled eggs, croissants, watermelon and sweet potatoes. One of her favorite things is fruit puffs. This girl just can't get enough of them. She doesn't care much for rice, congee or steamed eggs, which is good for me since I don't know how to make any of those dishes.
After breakfast, we went on a city tour to the Buddist Temple called the Six Banyans Temple. It was very pretty there with a pagoda and a nice garden. The monks did a optional blessing for the baby, then we went to the Provinicial Folk Art Museum that had beautiful embroidery, jade carvings and ivory carvings that are famous in Guangdong province. They had some flute music on a CD which we bought for background music for the video. The last stop on the tour was the local arts and crafts market and they had a great variety of items from all over China.
We went back to the hotel to have lunch and get ready to do a whole bunch of paperwork.
I dropped off our laundry and for about 5.00 got a whole bag of laundry done. It is really nice to have a place to take the laundry.
Then, the real work of today started, we had to fill out about 6 sets of papers for Leilani's visa to return to the US and get her social security number. The process took about 90 minutes.
We went as a group to the Cow and Bridge restaurant that serves Thai food, we ordered some sweet and sour chicken and shrimp cakes and it was very good. We also discovered Leilani really likes the spicy shrimp chips they served. We brought home all the extra ones to have as snacks for her.
Leilani really loves the baths, especially the bubbles. We were reflecting on how different she is from one week ago. She has come leaps and bounds from the scared little girl we met last Sunday night. She babbles constantly saying ba ba ba, da da da and ma ma ma, We like to think she is referring to us, but who knows?
She is giggling, smiling and laughing at lots of things, she is so fun!
Another nice thing about this hotel, they have a medical clinic available for the guests. I have a little raw spot under my chin that is not healing very quickly, so I went to the clinic to get a bandaid to cover it and the doctor cleaned it out and put some Chinese medicine on it that burns. All of that and no charge for the treatment, a very nice bonus to staying here indeed.
