It has been a very memorable five months since Leilani was brought to us at the hotel, scared and screaming. She is quite attached to us, even grabbing our legs and wanting to be carried around. She does fine if I go to work, or Daddy has to leave to go to work, but she is the happiest when we are both here. She has another ear infection and has been feeling under the weather for the past couple of days, so another round of antibiotics that apparently don’t taste very good even with the flavoring the pharmacy adds. The doctor is happy with her weight gain, she was 18.5 pounds when she had her physical in Guangzhou, today she weighed 23.5 pounds, so about a pound a month weight gain. She was less than the 3rd percentile for weight and height in China and now is at the 20% percentile for weight. She says a few more words and she is working on a bunch of different sounds. She hums when the singers are humming, she likes to move to Dance-a-lot Robot and she points to an owl in the book and tries to make a hooting noise. She says Aye-yi-yi and can point to mommy and daddy in pictures. The most heartwarming thing she says is Pop-pop, when she sees my Dad’s picture. She truly loved him and he adored her. Every day with her, we thank God for his goodness and blessings. We are the lucky ones!
