Consulate appointment and red couch photos

Yesterday afternoon we went to the pearl market and had a strand of pearls made for Leilani to give her on her 16th birthday. Mike videotaped the woman knotting the pearls the strand, so we have that too to show her.
Today, one of my pieces of paperwork (the one promising to get her vaccinations done in the US) was not acceptable to the US Consulate. I made what I thought was a clarification in Leilani's Chinese name and the US Consulate refused the paper, so I had to make a trip to fill out another paper and swear the information is true and get it notarized. That took a cab ride of about 45 minutes each way and about 3 hours total, but everything is fine to get her visa.
When I got back to the hotel, we got Leilani gressed for the red couch pictures. This is another tradition for adoptive families staying at the White swan. It is quite difficult to get that many babies to sit on the couch together! I thought Leilani would crawl right off, but she actually did very well.
We went on a bus ride to the pier to get on the very nice cruising dinner yacht. We were seated on the second story and shortly after starting down the river, we had a nice Chinese dinner with peking duck, chicken, fried rice, noodles, and vegetables of all kinds. Then up on the deck to enjoy the cruise to the White Swan and back to the pier. There was a little breeze, but it was warm and Leilani enjoyed it. The lights all over the buildings are really pretty from the river. Then it was back to the hotel and go to bed. Tomorrow is the swearing in at the US Consulate.
