Today I made the journey downtown to USCIS to re-file my I-600A. After waiting for my number to be called at 7:30 AM, the clerk at the front window knew NOTHING about the process for grandfathering the application, handed me my packet and said "you need to file an I-800A for China." After talking to the supervisor of the information room, I had to wait until the orphan officer came to work (about 8:00, and they would check with her and validate my request to re-file the I-600A. I waited on the "pews" (that's what they looked like, hard wood benches in rows across the large room) watching Peter Pan on the 19" TV in the corner until about 8:15 when I was called back to the window. The clerk checked my paperwork and my packet was taken to the cashier to pay. When she was handling my papers and checking the application, I told her "you are holding my child in your hands, be careful with it." I really felt this was the last hurdle to jump in this adoption process and I am glad for it!
